Real Patients, Beautiful Results
Our extensive online photo gallery of actual patients is supplemented by additional digital photos patients can browse at our office. The 66-year-old patient shown in the before-and-after photos above underwent a facelift combined with an endoscopic brow lift and lower eyelid surgery. In addition, Dr. Anson used fillers and fat transfer to fine-tune the results. View our photo gallery.
What is the right age for facelift surgery?
Because aging is different for everyone, there is no "correct" age to undergo a facelift. Some people are ready for facial rejuvenation in their 40s, while others will postpone surgery until they're in their 50s, 60s or later. Our surgeons believe that starting younger with smaller procedures yields better results than waiting until the skin is inelastic. We often hear patients say they want to wait until there is a big change to see after surgery. We completely disagree with this concept! It's better to tighten the tissues before laxity is severe.
What Our Patients Are Saying
"Dr. Higgins, you really care about people and their well-being. Anyone that has you as their doctor is in good hands; you can really tell you care and that is what people need in a doctor." — A.T.
I have sagging and lines around my eyes. Will a facelift help?
No. Crow's feet, frown lines and forehead wrinkles may be improved with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Sagging eyelids due to excess skin or fat may benefit from blepharoplasty. Drooping of the forehead or brow will respond to a brow lift. Facelift surgery is intended to improve aging of the central or midface, lower face, jawline and neck. Brow lift and blepharoplasty are commonly performed at the same time as facelift surgery.
Will my incisions be obvious?
Not at all. Our surgeons understand that discretion and natural-looking results are major priorities for patients, and they strive to make small, fine incisions that aren't noticeable to most people once they've healed. A standard facelift require incisions around the ears. Your surgeon may also make a small incision below your chin.
Both the mini-facelift and the necklift require incisions that are usually even smaller and more discreet. During your consultation, your surgeon will review the incision pattern recommended and help you understand what you can expect.
How long will I need to take off work?
After a traditional facelift, most patients are comfortable enough to return to their regular activities after about 2 weeks. Although recuperation after a facelift isn't known for being painful, the surgery can create bruising and swelling that lasts a few weeks. You'll likely feel ready to get back to work but have some residual cosmetic signs; many people work from home during this time for that reason. Those who undergo less-invasive procedures, such a mini-facelift, can often get back to work in less time. During your consultation, your surgeon will give you a more accurate prediction for how long you can expect to take off. Multiple facial rejuvenation procedures are commonly performed at the same time and this may influence the time needed for healing.

How long will my results last?
It's important to remember that no procedure can permanently stop the aging process. We suggest you think of surgery as "resetting" the clock. You will continue to age after a facelift based on many factors, including age at which surgery is performed, genetics, hormone status, sun exposure, and smoking history.
You will age better after a facelift than without one, but you will still age. The amount of time before a second facelift, mini-facelift or necklift is considered will depend largely on how much further laxity the patient is willing to tolerate. Typically, a second facelift will be considered after about 10 years, and maybe earlier if a patient's aesthetic standard is high.
How can I maintain my results?
We consider injectable fillers, BOTOX and regular skin care with a medically oriented aesthetician to be maintenance procedures. Dr. Tam and her arsenal of lasers are on hand when skin treatments are needed for coloration or texture. These are important both before and after facelift surgery. Sun protection, particularly under the Las Vegas sun, is essential to minimize skin aging. Many of our Las Vegas facelift patients find that even if they didn't practice good sun protection habits while they were young, the surgery provides the motivation they need to start incorporating better skin habits into their regular routines. It's never too late to start taking care of your skin. You can also help maintain your results by avoiding major weight shifts, which can leave skin stretched and sagging.
Are there any non-surgical alternatives?
Some patients may show signs of aging on the face but would prefer not to undergo surgery. Although we can't create results that are as extensive through a non-surgical treatment plan, we can help ease certain concerns. Injectable fillers can replace lost volume in the cheeks and smooth away wrinkles all over the face. Neurotoxins such as BOTOX can erase wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, and laser and other skin treatments can make skin clearer and improve texture. The results of non-surgical treatments are not as long-lasting as with surgery, but many patients are very satisfied with these options. We can discuss all your alternatives, surgical and non-surgical, at your consultation.
