Rhinoplasty in Las Vegas: Open, Closed, or Non-Surgical?
Nose jobs used to be cookie cutter procedures that were obvious and utilized the same methods for almost every patients. But times, technology and skills have changed to provide surgeons and patients with options to reduce recovery time and ensure a natural-looking new nose using a variety of rhinoplasty techniques.
The Open Rhinoplasty
Your plastic surgeon will choose to do an open rhinoplasty to be able to see cartilage within the nose, making it easier for removal of unwanted cartilage to create a better shape for your nose. People often reject the open rhinoplasty because they don’t want to have a scar, but the surgeon will create an incision in an area of your nose that is not easily seen.
The Closed Rhinoplasty
People opt to have the closed rhinoplasty because the surgeon makes incisions inside the nostrils, reducing the risk of visible scarring. However, this is not always the best method for every patient. It depends on the look you are aiming for, as not all portions of the nose are easily accessible enough during the closed procedure. Your plastic surgeon will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of a closed rhinoplasty procedure for your particular needs.
The Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Non-surgical rhinoplasties are temporary procedures that will help patients see what their desired end result will look like if they opt for surgery or can be a repeated procedure every few months, much like a lip augmentation or cheek augmentation using injectable fillers. Like other augmentation procedures, the plastic surgeon injects filler into your nose and re-shapes it with his or her hands. You will be able to resume normal activities the next day, and if you experience any bruising, it will not be expected to last longer than a week.
It’s important to note that non-surgical rhinoplasty is not a permanent solution because the filler will eventually wear off and have to be re-administered. In addition, this option cannot correct instances of bumps on the nose, as those need to be shaved down and removed, not added to.
